A great nursing facility prioritizes every aspect of a patient’s well-being, and good nutrition is crucial during the recovery process. That is why we do our best to help our patients maintain a healthy and balanced diet during their stay at our skilled nursing home.
When a new patient is admitted into Berkley East, he or she meets one-on-one with our registered dietitian to discuss dietary restrictions and needs. After learning of the patient’s medical history and current medical state, our dietitian creates a customized meal plan that is displayed on a dietary card for our staff to refer to during mealtimes.
We create an incredible dining experience by providing patients with homemade meals ranging from hearty vegetable soup to grilled salmon glazed in lemon, and a spacious dining room with wooden dining tables and cushioned chairs. Patients are also welcome to eat in the comfort of their bedrooms or on our rooftop patio lined with seating areas, umbrellas, and an ocean view.
If patients are hungry during non-mealtime hours, a variety of beverages and healthy snacks are available.
At Berkley East in Santa Monica, we understand that the best type of therapy is helping our patients do what they love with the people that they love. That is why we create an open and healthy environment in our skilled nursing facility that encourages social interaction and allows the patients to pursue their passions.
Our facility holds monthly council meetings for patients to share their ideas and plan future activities and events. All family members are invited to attend to support their loved one and help influence his or her social life.
Once activities are chosen, our activities director works closely with the activity staff to gather the required materials and plan the events. Below are some of the activities the department holds regularly:
